O&H Bakery has released a new, limited-edition holiday Kringle flavor

Just in time for Christmas, O&H Danish Bakery in Oak Creek and Racine is offering a new holiday Kringle flavor.

The new recipe, festively named "Reindeer Tracks," blends smooth cream cheese, toffee and caramel, and is topped off with vanilla frosting, chocolate curls and toffee bits, O&H shared on Facebook.

"It's a great combination of flavors, including the caramel and toffee, and then we have a vanilla cream cheese filling that we created that goes over the top of that caramel and toffee," said O&H president Eric Olesen. "On top of that, we sprinkle on chocolate-covered toffee bits, and that's all wrapped around our famous pastry that's light and tender and flaky. After it's baked, we put a creamy vanilla frosting with more sprinkles of chocolate curls and toffee."

Everything in the Kringle ― from the pastry to the fillings to the icing and decorative elements ― is made from scratch, Olesen added. It took O&H's creative team of about a dozen bakers since the beginning of the year, he said, to perfect the new Reindeer Tracks recipe.

"It's really about trying to identify combinations of flavors that would be attractive to our customers," he explained. "And then we start testing to really determine how it's going to taste and smell and feel. All of those things are really important to making the experience of buying, sharing and consuming this Reindeer Tracks Kringle a really excellent one."

O&H introduces a new holiday Kringle recipe each year, and some popular recipes stick around for years to come.

The bakery introduced its "Christmas Fudge" Kringle recipe during the 2021 holiday season and its red velvet and vanilla pudding "Santa's Secret" Kringle in 2019. Both recipes are available again this holiday season.

Reindeer Tracks, along with O&H's other seasonal Kringles and desserts, will be available in-store and online for delivery nationwide through Dec. 31.

During December, the bakery's busiest month, O&H makes up to 7,000 Kringles a day, a spokesperson told the Journal Sentinel in 2021.

Where are O&H Danish Bakery's stores?

O&H has been making Kringle in the Racine area since 1949. The bakery has five locations, with its Oak Creek location being the closest to Milwaukee.

While each store will be stocked with Reindeer Tracks during the holiday season, Olesen recommends customers order the special treat online in advance for in-store pick-up.
