Kohler's Frozen Fairways will bring winter fun to Blackwolf Run golf course

Children's events include photos with Santa, watercolor painting and a magic show.

KOHLER — Destination Kohler is kicking off winter with a variety of outdoor and holiday activities at Blackwolf Run.  

In its first year, Frozen Fairways will offer cross-country skiing, curling and snowshoeing at the golf course, 1111 W. Riverside Drive. There will also be sledding, fat-tire biking and patio games.  

A rink will be made on the course for ice skating and light shows will be on display. The hospitality group will have a hot chocolate bar, s’mores and chef dinners, too. It will run Dec. 7 to Feb. 29.

Special events feature music, cooking demonstrations and fun for kids. 

Following is a schedule of special events scheduled at Frozen Fairways.

Music and hikes through February 

  • Live music: 7-9 p.m. on Fridays  
  • Live DJ: 7-9 p.m. on Saturdays 
  • Guided hikes: 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays  

Carriage rides will begin in January  

  • Carriage rides: 6-8 p.m. on Fridays  

Celebrations planned for the holidays

  • Christmas cookie decorating: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 24  
  • Fireworks: 10 p.m. on Dec. 31  
  • Hot chocolate bomb making: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 7 and Feb. 4  
  • Cooking demonstrations: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 14 and Feb. 18  

Children’s events feature photos with Santa and a magic show  

  • Watercolor painting: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 10 and Feb. 11 
  • Photos with Santa: 2-3 p.m. on Dec. 16  
  • Ice bubble making: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 17, Dec. 26 and Jan. 21  
  • Magic show: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 27  
  • Scavenger hunt: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 28  
  • New Years Eve party: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 31  
  • Ice sculpturing building: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  on Feb. 25 

Attend as a daily, seasonal or resort guest 

Daily admission is $15 for those who are 13 years old and older and $10 for those who are between 3 and 12 years old. Children ages 2 and younger are admitted free.  

Season passes are $125 for individuals, $250 for couples and $350 for families.  

Guests who stay overnight at The American Club, Inn on Woodlake or at a Destination Kohler cabin have free admission to Frozen Fairways.  

There are no extra fees for special events.

Frozen Fairways activities offered over long weekends  

The golf course will be open 4-9 p.m. Thursdays, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Fridays-Saturdays and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays.
